What diseases are covered?

Your 1Life female dread disease cover policy covers female-specific cancers including breast cancer, ovarian cancer and cervical cancer, as well as other conditions such as systemic lupus and certain pregnancy-related complications. Your policy schedule has a complete list of what you are covered for. Certain pre-existing conditions may be excluded from the policy.

How is a female cancer cover premium calculated?

Your monthly premium is based on your specific risk profile. This means that factors like your age, lifestyle, occupation and your current health conditions and history of illness will all be considered when your monthly premium is calculated.

What emergency benefits are included with the policy?

Intelligent Panic Simply press the panic number saved on your phone and the Intelligent Panic emergency call centre will phone you back. Intelligent Panic ensures that: You will never have to remember an emergency number again You will never be alone in an emergency You have access to all emergency support services from one button on your cell phone Home Invasion This is a 24-hour crisis management product to assist you in the event of a home invasion: If your cell phone is stolen, we will provide you with a phone loaded with pre-paid airtime to the value of R100 If your car is stolen, we will provide you with Group B car hire for 48 hours to keep you mobile If your credit card is stolen, we will provide you with a preloaded debit card up to the value of R500 If your keys are stolen, we will send a locksmith to your house, up to the value of R1000 per annum We will place a security guard at your house for 24 hours after the invasion has taken place We will provide hotel accommodation to the value of R1000 per annum Note: these benefits only apply in the event of a home invasion Trauma & Assault 24-hour Emergency Assistance Helpline In the unfortunate event of a traumatic incident, we will provide you with counselling by trained medical professionals. This is a 24-hour emergency assistance helpline that: Provides emergency transport to the nearest, most appropriate medical facility Offers referrals for psychiatric consultations Provides R5 000 cover per insured person for psychiatric consultations with a maximum of R10 000 per family per occurrence A ‘career coaching’ psychiatric benefit is also included. This benefit provides consultation(s) to help a cancer remission patient get back into the job market if needed.

How does the Post Treatment Chauffeur service work?

The Post Treatment Chauffeur service works as follows: We will ensure that you and your vehicle arrive home safely after a cancer treatment. We will dispatch a vehicle with two drivers (where possible) and drive you home in your own car. You are entitled to use this service 6 times per annum. Each incident is capped at R500 rand, any costs incurred over and above this will be for the client’s account (Ts & Cs apply). This benefit is not restricted to post treatment services and is also available to policyholders to help them get home safely after a night out with friends and family.

Is childhood cancer cover included?

Yes. When you take out critical illness insurance for yourself, up to four children are covered if they are diagnosed with certain childhood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and brain tumours. Your policy schedule has a complete list of what your children are covered for.

When does the policy pay out?

Your policy pays out a percentage of your cover amount if you or up to four of your children are diagnosed with one of the illnesses listed in your policy schedule. We know you rely on your insurance in difficult times, so once 1Life has received all of the documentation needed to assess the claim, we try to pay it as promptly as possible.

Law for Her gives women access to a team of legal professionals 24 hours a day. The Law for Her product includes the following benefits: A 24-hour legal advice line Get information and advice on any legal matter. (Benefit restricted to telephonic advice only) Assistance for victims of crime Assistance and guidance through the case. Note: In criminal cases, the government prosecutes the offender. You therefore don't need a lawyer. We guide women through the process and also follow up with investigating officers. Assistance with maintenance representations Advice on any maintenance matter Mediation between parties Drafting of a maintenance representation for Maintenance Court Assistance with protection orders Advice on protection orders Assistance and guidance in getting a protection order (interim and permanent) Assistance with arrest Attempt to arrange for bail/release telephonically Assisting with the appointment of an attorney for bail hearing by putting the client in touch with a lawyer at greatly reduced rates

What is female dread disease cover?

All Woman™ (Female dread disease cover) is a policy designed for women and their children. It pays out a lump sum to you if you are diagnosed with a female specific disease or experience certain pregnancy complications. It also provides cover if your children are diagnosed with certain cancers.

Whether or not you are eligible for this policy will depend on your family’s health, your medical history, lifestyle and type of employment. If you do qualify, your monthly premium will be based on factors such as your age, gender, health and occupation.

What types of diseases will I be covered for?

You could be covered for female specific cancers such as breast, cervical or ovarian cancer, systemic lupus and certain pregnancy complications. A complete list of what you will be covered for is available in the 1Life policy book.

What will my children be covered for?

Your children can be covered for childhood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma and brain tumours, as well as any certain diagnoses related to pregnancy and birth complications. For a full list of covered events, please consult the 1Life policy book.

How many children can be covered by this policy?

You can cover up to 4 children on this policy. This includes biological children, stepchildren and children adopted in terms of South African law.

How old must my children be in order for them to be covered?

Children can be covered from birth to their 18th birthday.

What is DebiCheck?

DebiCheck is a way you control how certain debit orders are taken out of your bank account. You confirm this once, at the start of the contract. This is done to inform your bank that you give permission for the money to be taken from your account. Find out more here.

Are there any waiting periods that apply to female dread disease cover?

Waiting periods for specific conditions apply. The waiting periods will be listed in the policy schedule and policybook that you will receive when you take up the insurance.
