It is holiday time and across South Africa thousands of family's are preparing for their summer holidays. While some head for local beaches or country retreats, others are lucky enough to be able to afford an overseas holiday. From Mauritius to Paris, thousands of South Africans are boarding planes and heading for exotic destinations.
Did you know that as a 1Life Pure Life Cover, Disablement Cover or Dread Disease Cover policyholder you need to inform us of your travel plans if you are going to be outside of the borders of South Africa for more than 14 days? Read on to find out more about Continuity of Cover.
Continuity of Cover is a clause in your Policy Book that states that 1Lifedirect reserves the right to review and where necessary make changes to policy terms and conditions, benefit amounts and/or premiums payable or even cancel certain benefits if one of the following changes occurs in your life:
- You start smoking
- You get a new job
- You are outside of the borders of South Africa for more than 14 consecutive days
- You take up or increase your participation in a hazardous pursuit for example skydiving, bungee jumping or high-speed motor racing
As a 1Life policyholder we strongly advise you to keep us informed if any of these changes occur in your life. While your premiums might increase or your benefits decrease it is better to be informed of these changes upfront rather than to run the risk of a reduced or rejected claim at a time when you or your family are in need.
So if you are one of the lucky South African families heading overseas this festive season and you are planning to be away for more than 14 consecutive, days please contact us on 0860 10 53 40 and inform us of your travel plans. If you want to find out more about Continuity of Cover please refer to our Policy Book.
